Once a democrat, once a republican...now, a leaning libertarian. Old enough to remember Reagan's last days and Bush Sr. through to Obama. EVERY 4 years I have seen the same thing. Two sides pit against each other peddling fear. Faults and defects exaggerated to momentous proportions only to come to find that all that was spoken wasn't as bad as they made it. Most coming to terms that even though the office is held by one they didn't vote for, there was still respect to be had for the office...even when the one in office had sullied it.
I've seen protests and rioting before...it's nothing new. Yet what is different now is how ugly this has become. Where violence and anarchy have become a political strategy. Where bullying others that speak or think differently is a way to keep everyone in line by fear of being ostracized. Simply because they decided that in order to help their "people", they have to move beyond the division of identity politics only to be "punished" for doing so. Simply because they decided to think for themselves. I know what that's like. The difference between myself and this generation is that I was raised in the adversity brought on by free thought. My skin is thickened by the many times I've had to stand against the "cool kids" or "what was in". From the church house to the street, I am a leaning libertarian because I have no group or race that can tell me what I'm supposed to think. It may be lonely...but I'd rather stand alone and be honest with the truth than follow a group hellbent on hypocrisy. Today, I no longer see confused souls. Instead I see empty drones devoid of intellectual honesty, honor or respect for their fellow man. I used to be able to see right or wrong but the more these claiming tolerance act like the intolerant children they are, I am beginning to see good and evil. No man should ever force another to conform to a set of ideals they don't believe in for when they do...they try to take the place of God Himself. A God that incidentally gave us the free will to choose how we please. A will that is spoken as "inalienable" in our constitution. The very thing that makes this country great.
Folks, I am and always will be an American. I will always take pride in my hispanic and greek background but I was born in a great experiment. One I am proud to be a part of. No matter who is president, I respect their office and will call them my own. I am not a child needing to throw tantrums because I didn't get my way. I will not protest against the caricature of an individual created so that I would vote against them. Instead, I will pray that they will be a good steward of their great responsibility and that God would use them either to make things better or in the least...not to make things worse...but I will pray for my president nonetheless. So today I speak as the anti-drone. I speak as a proud American but a bit more than that...I speak as a mature, sober minded adult to say God bless America and may God bless our new president...Donald J Trump...
Now if these words I have written give you pause or make you think differently of me then that is what I call a personal issue you need to deal with. I am not in the business of fussin with grown babies that can't see beyond their tunnel visioned ideology. I've been there done that only to be met with childishness so if this pertains to you, I give you two options: 1) Grow the hell up or 2) Get out your crayons and coloring books and get to your safe space quick. You'll be in there for awhile...
Notice that neither of those options has you giving me your opinion lol Yeah so...I'm out
